What is a Comfort & Care Bundle?

Update posted 5 years ago

The Women's Club of Hollister started the Comfort & Care Bundle program six years ago to provide assistance to children entering or in the foster care system, and for children in need. Children have no control over their environment and are frequently taken from their homes in the middle of the night with just the clothes on their back.  Abused, neglected, scared, and confused, foster children go through one of the most emotional, traumatic, and chaotic times in their young lives.

Our Comfort & Care Bundles are packed for girls and boys ages 0-18. The backpacks contain items that each age group needs - for the infants, diapers, two changes of clothing, soft toys, a warm blanket, and a picture book. To the school-aged kids -  clothing, toiletries, a warm blanket, a toy, and a book or journal. The cost of a single outfitted backpack is $40.

The program is run entirely on donations from our members and the community. This year we are preparing 180 bundles to be donated to CASA of San Benito County, Chamberlains Youth Services, CPS, Emmaus House, and Kinship San Benito.

Thank you for your donation! The kids thank you too!

The Women's Club of Hollister (WCH) was founded in our community in 1913. Our mission is to provide funds and resources to disadvantaged women and children.

Your donation will be divided between Small Steps and WCH's Comfort & Care Bundles. Both programs provide a valuable resource to children in need. Small Steps provides clothing, shoes, and supplies to children during the holiday season. With our population growth comes an increased need for financial and volunteer support. The Comfort & Care Bundles project began several years ago by the Women's Club to answer a need for disadvantaged children and those who are taken from their homes in the middle of the night by Child Protective Services. The backpacks are filled with new clothing, toiletries, a blanket, towels, journals for the older kids, diapers for the infants and toddlers, and a small stuffed animal. WCH prepared 200 bundles in 2018 and is preparing to provide 180 bundles in 2019. Each year the bundles are given to CASA of San Benito County, CPS, Chamberlains Youth Services, Emmaus House, and Kinship.

From our heart to yours, THANK YOU for your donation.
